Flash's New Jump Bar

Today I built a second agility obstacle for Flash, an adjustable jump
bar. He's jumping over it pretty well. The top bar is at about 17"
right now. It started at 20", which was a little too high for him to
clear consistently (but with practice, I'm sure he'll jump much
higher!). I need to start him out lower, and build him up. It doesn't
take many jumps to wear him out right now.
The bar is made from 3/4" PVC, a handfull of Ts, and endcaps. The
cups that hold the bars are cut from a T. First I cut the back off of
the T, so the long edge will snap onto the pole. Then I cut the
whole thing in half to make 2 cups. They snap onto the pole anywhere,
so I can easily change the height of the bars. The two bars are
wrapped with red electrical tape.

More snow!

It snowed pretty much all day today. The ground was covered when I
woke up. I took Flash for a walk, then Josh and I found a big parking
lot and did some donuts in my Vanagon (video on my Youtube channel).
It snowed so much that by the time we got
back, our footprints outside my house were no longer visible.

Playing in the ice and snow

I walked Flash up to the schoolyard a few blocks away. The snow now
has about a 1/2" layer of ice on top. It breaks right away when I
step on it, but Flash can walk across the top if he's careful, but if
he tries to go too fast, he breaks through and has to plow through a
bit.
While he was playing fetch, I broke some big pieces of the surface ice
and stood them up in the snow. The thin ice is really fragile, so
some of the bigger pieces fell over or broke when I tried to place
them. Most broke when I tried to pick them up, so this is all I ended
up with.

Hay!

Flash and the rain have conspired to makemy backyard a muddy mess. Today I picked up a bale of straw (apparently hay has seeds, straw doesn't) and spread it out where the grass wasn't growing. I don't know if it will help the grass, but it certainly cuts down on muddy pawprints.

Flash at Fort Funston

I took Flash to Fort Funston this weekend. Its a dog-friendly park
near the beach just south of San Francisco. He had a blast. He had
to wear his muzzle most of the time, since there were lots of people
around, but he still had fun chasing the other dogs playing fetch.

What the Hail?

Flash and I just got back from our walk and were inside maybe 2 minutes before I heard the first shot of thunder, then the tik-tik-tik-tik-tik of hail on the roof. Flash is really confused.
Now that it's just raining again, I let him out in the yard to check t out. He's running around like a crazy monkey.
